Austin Brown Inc.
was founded in Atlanta, Georgia in the summer of 1960 by Mr.
Austin Brown. Mr. Brown graduated from The Georgia Institute
of Technology with a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering
following WWII. He taught at Georgia Tech during and after
graduate school, gaining experience which benefited his
coworkers, the employees of ABI. Mr. Brown is an
inspirational leader, patient mentor, brilliant engineer,
outstanding businessman, devout Christian, model husband and
father; he is the epitome of a gentleman. Now that he is
retired, the next generation at Austin Brown Inc. aim to
serve our customers and represent our manufacturers with the
professionalism he exemplified.
The company was founded in the electric motor and motor
control business representing Furnas Electric Company from
1961 until the acquisition of Furnas by Siemens in 1997. ABI
grew from Atlanta to Nashville, Birmingham and Mobile. Our
headquarters is in Decatur, Georgia with a branch office in
Birmingham and a field sales office in Mobile. The loss of
Furnas Electric after 36+ years necessitated some
restructuring, but as you will see from our line list, we
have never gotten far from our roots in the motor and motor
control industry. Acquisitions by some of our manufacturers
have allowed us experience in peripheral product areas.
During 40+ years of ABI we have had the privilege to work
and share time with many interesting people both as
manufacturers and customers. Our mission statement is the
same today as it was many years ago. |

a manufacturers representative firm founded in Atlanta,
Georgia in 1960. The company�s primary business is the sale
of electric motors and electric motor controls. It is our
goal to represent ourselves, our manufacturers, and our
products in a professional and forthright manner. We intend
to honor our commitments to our manufacturers, to be
trustworthy employers and to be totally customer focused. |
